As with just about every "big" release in recent memory, Microsoft are laying the smackdown on gamers who just can't wait to play games legitimately. The company's Director of Policy and Enforcement for Xbox LIVE notified today that anyone who's acquired and played bootlegged copies of Forza Motorsport 3 and/or Borderlands is being slapped with the banhammer. You can probably apply this to any upcoming titles like Left 4 Dead 2, Assassin's Creed 2, etc., etc.
"You know, when you play a pre-release title on LIVE when I know you shouldn’t have it, it’s not hard for me to figure out. ... Don't worry folks, anyone who bought a copy early is ok. In general, if you got a receipt, play away. These are illegit copies we're hitting."
However, it seems that only the LIVE accounts associated with the naughty behavior are being targeted (and targeted permanently), not the consoles too. Bummer I say; teach them a real lesson. Both games are awesome, folks. But awesome enough to risk your Xbox LIVE profile, causing unneeded headaches? Not really. Play the waiting game like everyone else.

When will Microsoft and the game publishers release that good people are being hurt also with these frivolous bans. Is their not a way to ban people until the game they were playing comes out due to many of us NOT having a clue to a release date is?
I believe this may be my last run in with Microsoft's terrible way of handling business if my account is not reinstated. I hate the fact that I am being treated like a second hand customer!
Microsoft... FIX YOUR OWN PROBLEMS BEFORE BANNING GOOD PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF!
