What exactly is the status of the newest title update for Modern Warfare 2 -- the Care Package Fix? You know, I'd love to know, too. Good thing that Game Informer decided to check in with Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling, then, as we now know that the patch (which hit PC last month) has been submitted to Microsoft Certification as of yesterday, and is due out soon.
"The Care Package Fix patch went to Microsoft for cert on Friday. Not too much longer before it's a thing of the past."
"Not too much longer" hopefully means within a week or so. No firm date of deployment has been issued. For those not clued in, this patch will address the following, axing them from the game (and paving the way for a slew of new exploits).
- Care Package, Emergency Airdrop, and Sentry Gun marker grenades sprint speed normalized.
- Fixes the “infinite care package” exploit
- Fixes numerous other experience hacks
- Improved Sentry Gun placement detection
- 1887 shotguns: Bling perk while using Akimbo and Full Metal Jacket combination now has range and damage identicle to non-Blinged 1887s
