Left 4 Dead 2 feasts on new dedicated servers, upgrades

Left 4 Dead 2, while undoubtedly a huge success already, is not without its pitfalls. The biggest offender: network connection for the online multiplayer. Since day one, players have complained about laggy connections and generally less-than-stellar performance of the game when played over the interwebs with their friends. That's not good. That won't do. Valve are on the case, though, and just in time for the holidays. Brand new dedicated servers have been added this week, along with other network "upgrades" to ensure a "lag-free" experience.

"We have upgraded our network infrastructure to better accommodate the huge response to L4D2. 360 players will now have lag-free servers. We've also added more dedicated servers," the developer says. Good news! I hate when stuttering gets in the way of my otherwise efficient disposing of undead.

Valve says they will "continue to monitor the situation and add resources as needed," so rest easy knowing that everything will be alright.
