Still watching, and re-watching that Halo: Reach trailer from the weekend? Looks pretty, doesn't it? Keep watching it, though, because stated beforehand no new, official Reach content will be hitting the Internet for consumption until January -- that's when the embargo for previews from various media outlets is lifted. So far all we know for certain is that the game features Noble Squad, a crew of Spartan IIIs, and that you're one of them.

While you sit back and think of something to pass the next few weeks' worth of time with, take note that Microsoft and Bungie have confirmed the Reach multiplayer beta -- once given a vague early 2010 date -- is now slated for a vague spring 2010 date. Not shocking; something tells me Bungie will flip the switch on this bad boy around the same time they did for Halo 3's beta test. That was early May. Word also slipped out on in Child's Play auction notice which seems to corroborate that.

Unlike Halo 3, though (which was accessible either via download codes, or through Crackdown), Halo: Reach is only going to playable through the ODST disc. Let's pray to a higher power that Bungie learned their lesson, and doesn't crash the trial day-one. Not enough? How about this? Speaking to GameSpot, an alleged source who has seen the game running said you can expect "Gears of War with Spartans," and a "very bleak and violent" tone.

Head to your fallout shelter, and commence the waiting.

Step into the boots of a Spartan III and prepare for the first look at “Halo: Reach,” the highly anticipated prequel to the “Halo” trilogy from acclaimed developer Bungie coming fall 2010. The very first “Halo: Reach” video had its worldwide debut last night during the Spike TV Video Game Awards by actress Tricia Helfer, offering gamers a taste of the story to come.

Taken from part of the game’s opening cinematic, the video provides the first look at the story of “Halo: Reach,” which introduces players to Noble Team, a squad of battle-hardened Spartan soldiers. “Halo: Reach” charts the story of Noble Team in their heroic stand to defend the planet Reach, its people and secrets against a ruthless assault by an alien collective known as the Covenant.

“Halo: Reach” is being published by Microsoft Game Studios and launches in the fall of 2010 exclusively on Xbox 360. The “Halo: Reach” multiplayer beta is coming spring 2010, which players can access exclusively through “Halo 3: ODST.”
