Fancy the ability to purchase full PC games, but conveniently over the interwebs, while using your Games for Windows client? Microsoft will be bringing the ever popular, and overpriced, Games on Demand service to Games for Windows LIVE later this month. Valve welcomes you to 2004, Microsoft.
Slated to be launched on December 15th, Games for Windows on Demand (our name) will start off with only a few notable titles available: THQ's Red Faction: Guerrilla, Capcom's Resident Evil 5, Eidos' Battlestations: Pacific, Osmos, and World of Goo. A free, would-be XBLA game called Tinker (previously only available to Windows Vista Ultimate Extra users) will also debut.
"With Games on Demand, we didn't just want to create a cut-and-paste version of existing digital distribution services," said Mike Ybarra, general manager of LIVE Engagement Services. "We challenged ourselves to deliver an integrated platform that takes full advantage of the unique capabilities offered by the LIVE service. Our goal has always been to create a seamless online gaming experience for the Windows community, and Games on Demand is a great step toward that end."
