Another major title, yet another Xbox 360 special edition bundle. I feel like history is repeating itself again. Though the spacious 250GB Xbox 360 Hard Drive is headed to Japan as a separate accessory next month, North American gamers desperate for more storage are reliant on on Microsoft's "Super Elite" hardware/game packages, which are coming out at an alarming rate. Modern Warfare 2, Forza 3, and even Mass Effect 2 were included with the beefier device, and now the first ever multiplatform Final Fantasy has the pleasure of bringing additional gigabytes.
The Xbox 360 Final Fantasy XIII Special Edition was revealed tonight on a Microsoft retail site, said to be hitting stores on March 9th, the same day Square-Enix's Japanese RPG epic drops. For $399, you'll get a new 360 Elite (the package shows a white box, and sans any special Final Fantasy-oriented artwork), the 250GB drive, and two wireless controllers. And a copy of FFXIII, of course.
This SKU has yet to be officially announced by Microsoft, who may be waiting to drop the news on Thursday at X10 where they will be showing off FFXIII one last time before it launches. Stay tuned for more. Interestingly, the listing clearly says "black" for console color, so the white box depicted appears to simply be placeholder for the mock-up. There's also a rumor that a special faceplate, shown in a recent video from Maor Nelson, may be included. We'll find out soon.
