EA: Medal of Honor to get "revitalized" soon, Criterion's Need for Speed out next year

A new entry in EA's flailing Medal of Honor series is on the way, this much is certain. The next title has been confirmed by the publisher in the past, and even outed on developer resumes in recent months, indicating a switch to modern-day combat, ala Call of Duty and EA's own Battlefield series.

During their financial earnings call yesterday, EA's Frank Gibeau stated that the Medal of Honor franchise, among other core IP, will get "revitalized" soon, and that those plans will be announced in the coming months. News for the new year? Probably. To play detective, that pretty much would confirm a setting swap for the shooter; you can't really "revitalize" a series that's been stuck in WWII any other way. But until we get the official announcement of Medal of Honor: Operation Anaconda, that's rumor and speculation.

And the next Need for Speed installment, the revolutionary one being tackled by Burnout developer Criterion? It's been "under development now for some time," and you can expect to be taking it for a spin next year (while EA Black Box hunkers down and works on their next one for 2011). No word yet on what direction Criterion will be taking it, but after Burnout Paradise, can they do any wrong?
