Alpha Protocol pushed out further, hitting in summer

Obsidian's Alpha Protocol was delayed, in case you don't remember. Originally slated for last October, the game went completely dark halfway through the year, with media outlets realizing something was up when no review code had arrived with only a few weeks until launch. Sega eventually confirmed a massive delay into spring 2010, stating this would "ensure that the game will be released in the best commercial release window possible and will also receive the focus this true AAA titles deserves." But with that time frame creeping up, we're still not seeing much of anything for what the company claims is a major product. Especially in the marketing department.

This past week at a preview event in New York, MTV spoke to publisher Sega about the delay, what it allowed for, and when the espionage RPG is actually coming out. Looks like it slipped a bit further. Matthew Hickman, assistant producer said, "We had a few reasons for [delaying the game]. One: We wanted to position it better, give it a lot of time. The main reason: We really wanted to polish the game up, make it everything Obsidian planned it to be, and give the consumer a very polished game."

"We added a couple of other things. Tweaks in lighting here and there, added the inventory comparison screen so you can compare what you're buying to what you have equipped. Just bringing the whole quality level up."

While an official announcement hasn't yet been made, MTV claims that Alpha Protocol was confirmed to be a summer 2010 title now, pushing it back another few months.
